Manhu (蛮虎) means The Fierce Tigers,Manhu have been performing since 2003. All the members are from villages in Stone Forest and are Sani people (a subdivision of the Yi minority).
Most of their songs are traditional Sani style, but also feature other Yi traditions from Chuxiong and Weishan.They are adding modern elements to traditional ethnic music.
The band spent five weeks in the US on a cultural exchange tour.The focus of the tour was music and dance workshops for schools in middle west of US.
